Not Bad Apples

Workshop has begun, and I can feel my school head settling in. I already miss my carefree summer head. Just get me into the classroom with kids, and I'll be fine.

I know it's "that time of the year" when I approach the back door and smell the crabapples that have dropped beneath the tree. Their rich scent ushers me into fall evey year.

Your summer holiday is so long!! I've been back with the kids for the past 2 weeks and already feel like the summer holiday never happened!

We aren't starting this year until after the Labor Day holiday, which is Monday, Sept. 3. And I know what you mean, Amanda, about summer becoming a distant memory when you're back in the swing of things. We have to remember to savor each moment, all summer long, don't we? One of the wonderful things about teaching is that we have that time to recharge our batteries.
